Could the Redskins be going to a 3-4?

I have not heard anybody mention this as a possibility, but the Redskins seem to be collecting linebackers while ignoring their weakness: The Defensive Line.  Greg Williams is a good defensive coach who got scorched last year.  His conclusion was that the “Cover-2” defense (which is his base defense) was no longer effective in confusing today’s quarterbacks.  They could be considering a drastic change to 3-4.  By not publicising the fact they could get some bargains at Linebacker.  They are unwilling to release Rocky McIntosh in a trade that would garner them a better LB.  Why?  Maybe because they realize they will need more depth at Linebacker.

  1. Has Williams ran a 3-4 in the past? Don’t remember one with the Bills? There is no way they don’t “know” their D-line is weak and that they were almost last in the nfl at stopping the run.

Glad someone was thinking the same thing as I was….

  2. To my knowledge Williams has never run a 3-4. But what better way to throw off the competition? And after spending their first pick this last weekend on ANOTHER saftey, why not?
